Sailing for Business (from 'Boardroom to Boat')

There are many companies that offer pleasure sailing and teambuilding through sailing.

Velocity Made Good differentiates itself by offering intense experiential training designed to accelerate high performance in teams, leaders and managers,

through: effectiveness; applying business nouse; and high level facilitation & training. In booking Velocity Made Good, you are booking an intense, impactful,

acceleration of development (see quote below).

The Velocity Made Good experience involves:

 - Pre-event communication and planning, during which participants are given teasers and challenges to work on.

 - On each day of the event, participants will be required to work efficiently and communicate effectively to complete various challenges,

such as sailing in Watches through the night or navigating to a Marina without help.

 - Days are facilitated and fully debriefed by Global Challenge Yacht Race crew who specialise in experiential learning, training and facilitation.

 - Lessons are drawn from the experience and learnings are shared from the Global Challenge - both are applied to the workplace.

Velocity Made Good operates anywhere in the world where a boat can be chartered.

Many events are delivered in the Solent, but for instance, Velocity Made Good has delivered a 5-day leadership development event in the Seychelles.

"I feel the objectives have been met – on the spot.

The good thing about the experiential teambuilding we did was that it is genuine and not artificially induced (like being in a hotel conference room) in the sense that the

whole team faced some real challenges, practicalities and had to hit objectives together.

The team has been helped to appreciate one another’s diverse strengths and personal leadership abilities. They have moved to a deeper level of understanding, personal

respect and openness has also been founded within the team too.

At an individual level the experience has also meant that many people in the team have had the opportunity to face their fears, do something they have never done

and would not normally do in their family context – I think has instilled self-confidence in most people in the team. They have been able to go home or to their friends

and have a ‘story to tell’ – “We sailed around the ‘Isle of Wight’ through a rainy windy night and we made it!”

I also think that the two of you where really very friendly, approachable, supportive and knowledgeable  - you found a good balance of sharing your experience

(the global challenge) and skills while also allowing us to learn and feel the challenge as team. At no time were any made to feel foolish or unskilled in any area – very supportive.

All practical arrangements worked out well and you both complemented each other superbly.

What could be done differently? I can’t say; nothing really – for me it was perfect and suggestions would be mere cosmetic.

It was a very good milestone for the team. We have moved forward."
